Aldershot and Farnborough proudly celebrated Armed Forces Day with an unforgettable programme of military displays, flypasts, parades and community activities that honoured both the rich history and ongoing service of the UK's Armed Forces.
The day brought together serving personnel, veterans, cadets, residents and visitors for a unique celebration of military heritage and community spirit. Crowds lined the streets to witness the skill, professionalism and dedication of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force.
A highlight of the celebrations was the military parade along Queens Avenue, featuring military bands from across all three services. Bands from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army and Royal Air Force led marching detachments of serving personnel, cadets and veterans in a vibrant display of tradition and pride. The parade also included soldiers from 3 PARA, with the RAF A400M aircraft performing a flypast overhead.
The skies continued to captivate audiences throughout the day as three of the UK's elite military parachute display teams delivered breathtaking demonstrations. The British Army Red Devils, Royal Air Force Falcons and Royal Navy Raiders filled the air with colourful canopies, thrilling spectators with gravity-defying manoeuvres that showcased exceptional skill, courage and precision.
Alongside the aerial displays, visitors had the opportunity to explore a wide range of military equipment and interactive experiences. Attractions included a British Army Apache attack helicopter, an RAF Chinook helicopter and the British Army's Boxer armoured vehicle. Serving military personnel and veterans were on hand throughout the day, offering visitors the chance to learn more about life in the Armed Forces and their important contribution to national security.
The Royal Navy also demonstrated its capabilities with offshore raiding craft displays and divers in action in a specially constructed demonstration tank. Military sporting events, including football matches involving Armed Forces teams, added to the atmosphere and highlighted the importance of teamwork and resilience across the services.
Families and young people enjoyed a dedicated cadet area featuring activities such as a paintball range and climbing tower, while a packed programme of music and entertainment kept visitors engaged throughout the day. Performances included appearances by the Military Wives Choir, alongside a variety of cultural, heritage and community activities that celebrated the region's strong links to the Armed Forces.
With a funfair, local attractions and the opportunity to visit both Aldershot Military Museum and the nearby FAST Museum, the event offered something for everyone. More than just a celebration, Armed Forces Day highlighted the deep connections between the military and local communities, reinforcing Aldershot and Farnborough's proud position at the heart of the UK's military and aviation heritage.
The event was a fitting tribute to the men and women who serve, have served, and continue to support the Armed Forces, bringing communities together in a shared celebration of service, sacrifice and national pride.
